I think some people might actually enjoy the vagueness of this system. Here is a list of things I found that cause you to lose morality:įrom what I'm reading, if you kill more than 50 humans you automatically get the bad ending. The only time you really even think about morality is near the end of the game where it seems like you have to influence a specific character. So that just sets you up to continue down that path. The world of Metro is a very dangerous, terrifying place.

But the first few areas you enter, you know they are full of hostile enemy forces ahead of time, so you don't hesitate to stealth kill, or snipe them with a ranged silenced weapon. In fact most combat situations are setup so you can stealth kill/KO everyone. Meaning there's no reason to kill people.

Not until mid-late game did I realize if you knock someone out, they're taking a forever nap. In most games if you knock someone out, they get back up a few seconds after, alert people, etc. Apparently if you choose to just knock people out instead of stealth killing them it would work more toward your favor because of a specific mechanic. In combat if you sneak up on someone you can either choose to knock them out or kill them. No response would lead the player to conclude no punishment. In most games this kind of behavior has an immediate response, or no response. But you're never told that, you assume since it's there in the open unprotected and nobody makes a comment on it, it's ok. For instance if you loot someones house, that's a bad moral choice.

There are no quests or anything, you just have to do good thing or bad things. But I never found it very clear because you're never given a reward or a clear direction on what to do. At the start of the game you're told that your choices can affect the way people respond to you. In fact, until you get some pretty cut and dry decisions near the end of the game you'll probably be wondering if there really is a system in place and what the hell it even does. Throughout the game you are given moral choices, however, most are kinda vague. Well it's still really good, just a little disappointing now.
